Meet The Team

Latoyha Gabriel
CEO
Latoyha Gabriel

Hi I am Latoyha, I’m the CEO of Warwickshire Young Carers, and after more than 14 years working with young carers, they still can’t seem to get rid of me! My background is in family support, working with families of young carers, and supporting young people has always been where my heart is.

For me, this work is personal as well as professional because I was a young carer myself. I know how important it is for young people and families to feel understood, supported and never alone, and that’s why this role means so much to me.

When I’m not at work, I’m usually busy being a mum of two and a wife, listening to music, out walking, or enjoying one of my other favourite hobbies: eating! In a former life I even did a stint in radio presenting, which was great fun. And yes, I can confirm that I love chocolate in copious amounts.

Warwickshire Young Carers feels like a second family to me because of the amazing young people we work with and the wonderful staff and trustees who make such a difference every day. My biggest passion is supporting young people and families who need it most, and I feel very lucky to do that here.

Tracey Beasley
Transitions Coordinator
Tracey Beasley

Hi, I'm Tracey and I'm the Transitions Coordinator here at WYC. I've been passionately supporting Young and Young Adult Carers to follow their dreams and aspirations for 9 years now and I still love it! In my spare time I love cuddles with my little old dog, Tilly and enjoying time with family or friends. (There's often an impromptu kitchen disco involved with the latter!)

Sally Barton-Bodley
Engagement & Wellbeing Coordinator
Sally Barton-Bodley

My name is Sally and I am the Engagement & Wellbeing Coordinator at Warwickshire Young Carers. I have been part of the team since June 2024 having gained 11 years’ previous experience of supporting young carers and young adult carers at another young carers service not too far away.

In my spare time I take care of my dog, Bertie. He is 5 and has bags of energy so it means lots of park visits where he likes to chase squirrels and rabbits (he never catches anything) while I bimble along soaking up the green space and listening to the birdsong, which is relaxing and mindful. I’m a bit of a gym bunny, too. I go to classes like Step, where I mostly stand at the back and laugh lots at my inability to coordinate my movements, but I do take things seriously when I go to Yoga, another good-for-the-soul activity.

I’m an ‘up-for-anything’ person, especially with young carers. There’s not much I won’t have a go at. I don’t like spiders though, so if we go anywhere that there are big furry ones you’ll get chance to check out my sprinting ability.

Amanda Huxley
Activities & Engagement Worker
Amanda Huxley

I am Amanda, I have always had a passion with working with children and young people and achieving the best outcomes for them, therefore I went to university to do a degree in this field, whilst juggling the degree alongside four young children of my own.

Having the flexibility to work and spend time with my family is important to me.  I also love travelling and have visited so many countries. I love seeing and experiencing how different cultures live.  Saying that, I love my home and I enjoy walking the dog and photography.

Emma Milner
Young Carers Sessional Worker & New Referrals Administrator
Emma Milner

Hi I'm Emma, and I have been part of the team for over a year now. I am a qualified youth worker so I’m passionate about supporting young people and really enjoy meeting them at our groups and activities. Everything I do is centred around the young person, ensuring they feel supported and have the opportunity to flourish.

In my spare time, I enjoy watching live music and going to festivals, as well as relaxing with a good crime documentary.

Lindsey Bowen
Young Carers Volunteer/Administrator

Hi, I’m Lindsey. I retired in 2024 and volunteered for WYC because I feel strongly that all children and young adults should  have access to the same opportunities in life regardless of their family circumstances. It’s only fair. I work one day a week in the office (where I’m regularly tempted by chocolate!!) and I also enjoy supporting the trips and the clubs. In my spare time I make ceramics, I’m learning Spanish and I  attend  a regular Bhangra dance class! I also have a bossy little rescue dachshund - Toot - who takes me on regular walks.

Chris
Young Carers Volunteer

Hi, my name is Chris and I am a volunteer with WYC. I’ve been volunteering since 2019, firstly social prescribing with adults, then telephone befriending with adults during COVID and then since 2021 helping Young Carers to enjoy themselves in a safe environment. I love seeing the children having a good time and when asked I like to join in to show that the old ones can still enjoy themselves as well.

As I’m now retired it allows me time to travel which I do with my wife and we love to have holidays both in the UK and abroad and as my son and his family are currently living in Charlotte North Carolina we try to get out to the US to see them when possible.

I keep fit by visiting the gym 3 times a week and running the Saturday ParkRun. I love to meet up with friends and fully support the old saying that ‘I have no idea where I found time to work’.

Sue
Young Carers Volunteer

Hi I’m Sue and I have been volunteering with WYCs for about 18 months. Following a career working with adults, once I retired I really wanted to spend some time working with children and I am grateful to WYCs for giving me that opportunity. In my spare time I enjoy yoga, swimming, singing ( in two choirs) and travelling.

Juliana
Young Carers Volunteer

Hi, I'm Juliana and I have been volunteering with Warwickshire Young Carers since July 2024. I was inspired to support this organisation as I have a passion for inspiring and nurturing younger people as well as personal experience of being a carer. In my spare time I enjoy arts and crafts, hiking trips and gardening.

Chantal
Young Carers Volunteer

Hi everyone! My name is Chantal and I enjoy reading books, watching films and drinking tea, especially in the colder weather. I also love to get outside when I can and go on long walks or 5k runs to clear my head. Another thing that helps me do this is 3D DIY gem art paintings whilst listening to music. I chose to become a volunteer at Warwickshire Young Carers because I grew up as a young carer myself, and I want to provide the same support that I was fortunate to receive to help others achieve their full potential.

Andy
Young Carers Volunteer

Hi, I'm Andy. I have recently retired, having sold my business, which I set up 18 years ago. Having had a wonderful childhood and young adulthood, I have been humbled by the commitment and sacrifices that such young people are willing to make. If I can give something back to these young people, it will be time well spent. I do like to travel as much as I can, having sacrificed this avenue of pleasure while building my business. I enjoyed playing rugby & squash as a younger version of myself and now enjoy playing as much pickleball as I can manage.

Rebekah
Young Carers Volunteer

Hi, I’m Rebekah. I have previous experience working in children’s safeguarding within the Police, which I found incredibly rewarding and something I truly enjoyed. Since moving into a different role, I’ve really missed engaging with young people and promoting their wellbeing, so volunteering with WYC feels like a great way to reconnect with that passion and make a positive difference.

In my spare time, I love keeping active with running and going to the gym, as well as relaxing with a good book. I’m also a big foodie and enjoy trying new foods and exploring different cuisines whenever I can.

Faith
Young Carers Volunteer

I am Faith. In my professional role I am a volunteer coordinator for a local charity which is how I met the lovely Sally and found out about the WYC. I have always enjoyed spending time with young people and completed a degree in Early Years Education alongside bringing up my 3 (now grown up) children.

I have 2 crazy Labradors who I love walking. I also enjoy going to the gym, gardening and baking (and sampling it) in my spare time.
