Young Carers Action Day
Fair Futures for Young Carers!

Today, on Young Carers Action Day 2026, we are proud to stand with young carers across Warwickshire and recognise this year’s theme, Fair Futures for Young Carers. The theme highlights the importance of making sure young carers have the same opportunities as other children and young people to learn, grow, thrive and look ahead to a positive future.
We believe in young carers, so that they can flourish and achieve their potential
At Warwickshire Young Carers, we know that young carers often take on significant responsibilities at home while also trying to manage school, friendships and their own wellbeing. Young Carers Action Day is an important opportunity to celebrate their strength, raise awareness of the challenges they face, and recognise the need for the right support at the right time.
To mark the day, our young carers have been planting sunflowers together in their groups. Sunflowers are a symbol of hope, strength and growth, and they reflect the message behind Fair Futures for Young Carers. Just like a sunflower needs the right care and conditions to grow, young carers need recognition, understanding and support to help them flourish and achieve their full potential.
We hope that, as these sunflowers grow in the weeks ahead, they will serve as a reminder of the bright futures every young carer deserves. Today is about celebrating young carers, listening to their voices, and renewing our commitment to helping create a fairer future for them all.
Fair futures also mean being seen, heard and included
As part of this year’s focus on Fair Futures for Young Carers, we were also pleased to be featured in a recent Voice Magazine article looking at the challenges young carers can face in accessing the arts. The piece highlights barriers such as time and cost, and helps shine a light on why creative opportunities matter for young carers’ confidence, wellbeing and self-expression. We are proud to have been included in the article and to continue championing opportunities that help young carers grow, thrive and look ahead to brighter futures.
