We’re delighted to receive core funding from the Severn Trent Community Fund
14 July 2025>
We are incredibly pleased to share that Warwickshire Young Carers has been awarded £19,823 from the Severn Trent Community Fund: Core Funding programme.
This funding will help us cover essential running costs over the next 12 months, including leadership capacity and office premises, the foundations that make all of our support possible. While this funding may not be as visible as a specific project or activity, it is absolutely vital. Without strong core infrastructure, we simply could not deliver the services that young carers across Warwickshire rely on every day.
At any one time, we support over 1,200 young carers aged 6-25 who are caring for a parent, sibling or family member with illness, disability, mental health challenges or addiction. Many of these young people juggle significant responsibilities at home while trying to manage school, friendships and their own wellbeing.
Thanks to this support from the Severn Trent Community Fund, we can continue to provide:
One-to-one emotional support
Family support and advocacy
Respite activities and opportunities to have fun
Wellbeing programmes and confidence-building activities
Support during key transitions into adulthood
Demand for our services continues to grow, particularly in areas where young carers often go unseen and unsupported. This funding provides stability at a time when it is most needed, allowing us to focus on supporting young people rather than worrying about keeping the lights on!
We are extremely grateful to Severn Trent Community Fund for recognising the importance of supporting organisations like ours. Their investment helps ensure that young carers across Warwickshire feel seen, valued and supported - not just for what they do for others, but for who they are.
We will be sharing updates throughout the year about how this funding is helping us continue our work.
