A Busy Week of Bowling, Food and Respite for Over 100 Young Carers

09 April 2026

It has been a busy and rewarding week at Warwickshire Young Carers, as we worked hard to make sure as many young carers as possible had the chance to enjoy some well-deserved respite, fun and time with friends.

As part of the week’s activities, we took young carers to Rugby for a fun bowling trip, followed by a stroll to McDonald’s for a treat and time to relax together. We also enjoyed a fantastic trip to Discobowl Nuneaton, where more young carers had a brilliant time bowling and enjoying some delicious food.

In total, we have provided activities for over 100 young carers this week, creating important opportunities for them to take a break from their caring responsibilities, spend time with others who understand their experiences, and simply enjoy being young people.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Discobowl Nuneaton for looking after us so well, and to Balsall Common Lions Club, Asda Leamington Spa and Tesco Southam for their generous Easter egg donations. Thanks to their kindness, every young carer went home with a chocolate treat.

We are also incredibly grateful to our amazing volunteers, whose time and support help make these opportunities possible, and to generous donors and funders, including Severn Trent Community Fund, whose support helps us continue providing respite activities for young carers across Warwickshire.

We are very proud to have supported so many young carers this week and, while it has been wonderfully busy, we are also looking forward to a little rest and a chocolaty treat! Yum.
