Successful Engagement Training and Networking Event to Support Young Carers in The North Place
15 November 2024>
We were thrilled to host representatives from various community groups and organisations at our Engagement Training and Networking Event on the 7th of November 2024. Held at the Chess Centre in Nuneaton, this inspiring event brought together professionals and grassroots organisations from North Warwickshire, Nuneaton, and Bedworth. With the support of the Innovation Fund for North Place, the training aimed to equip attendees with the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to better identify and support young carers across our communities.
The event was led by our Engagement Coordinator, Sally Barton-Bodley, with support from our CEO, Latoyha Gabriel, alongside Transitions Coordinator Tracey Beasley and Family Support Worker Stevie-Jayne Farrell. Together, they provided invaluable insights into the unique challenges young carers face and offered practical strategies to help these children and young people thrive.
The agenda covered essential topics, including understanding the needs of young carers, practical strategies for family engagement, and guidance on monitoring and evaluation techniques. Attendees also participated in a networking lunch, fostering connections among organisations working towards a shared goal: ensuring young carers have access to the support and resources they need.
Feedback from participants highlighted the event's impact and the positive energy in the room. One attendee shared that they “Enjoyed the course and the support to access the resources was extremely helpful.” Another noted, “We’re very excited to be working alongside WYCs,” while others described it as “Really good training.”
This event marks the beginning of more initiatives under the Innovation Fund for The North Place. We’re committed to running further events to strengthen partnerships, extend our reach, and create sustainable support systems for young carers across North Warwickshire, Nuneaton, and Bedworth.
We want to thank all the organisations that attended and pledged their support for young carers. Together, we can make a difference, ensuring that young carers are recognised, supported, and able to access provision in their communities. Stay tuned for more events like this – we look forward to seeing even more community collaboration in the future!
