About Us

Warwickshire Young Carers is an independent local charity dedicated to improving the lives of young carers and young adult carers across Warwickshire. We provide free and confidential support to young people aged 6 to 25 who help care for a family member affected by illness, disability, mental health difficulties or substance dependence.

We understand that being a young carer can affect many areas of everyday life. Alongside their caring responsibilities, young carers are often balancing school, friendships, family life and their own emotional wellbeing. Our role is to make sure they feel recognised, supported and able to enjoy the opportunities every child and young person deserves.

Who We Support

We support children and young people across Warwickshire who provide care or emotional support to a parent, sibling, grandparent or other family member. Every young carer’s situation is different, which is why we tailor our support to the needs of each individual and family.

Our service is here for young carers from the age of 6 upwards, including young adult carers up to the age of 25, helping them navigate the challenges they may face at home, in education and in planning for the future.

What We Do

We offer a wide range of practical and emotional support designed to help young carers feel less isolated, reduce inappropriate caring responsibilities, and improve their wellbeing. Our support may include one-to-one help, family support, befriending, group activities, trips, advocacy, information and guidance, and support during important transitions such as moving on to college, employment or independent living.

We also work in partnership with schools, social care, youth services and community organisations across Warwickshire to make sure young carers are identified early and can access the right help at the right time.

Our Approach

At Warwickshire Young Carers, we believe every young carer should feel seen, heard and valued. We listen to young people and their families, and we place their voices at the centre of everything we do. Our approach is supportive, inclusive and shaped around the individual circumstances of each young carer.

We may not always have all the answers, but we will always do our best to help find them. Whether that means offering direct support, creating opportunities for young carers to take a break, or helping them access other services, we are here to make a positive difference.

Our Vision

We want every young carer in Warwickshire to be recognised, supported and given the opportunity to thrive. By helping young carers take time out from their caring role, build confidence, enjoy new experiences and work towards their own goals, we aim to help them look ahead to a positive future.
