Our Young Carers Have Arrived in Bangor!
30 March 2026>
Today, a group of our young carers set off for Bangor University in North Wales for the Young Carers Residential Taster Event, and we are so pleased to share that they arrived safely this morning.
Each year, we are incredibly lucky to be invited to this special opportunity, and Warwickshire Young Carers remains the only non-Welsh young carers service to attend. The residential is designed for young carers in Years 11 and 12 and gives them the chance to experience a taste of university life in a really meaningful and supportive way.
During their time in Bangor, they will be staying in university halls of residence, taking part in taster lectures, and receiving information and guidance around student finance and university life. It is a brilliant opportunity for young carers to explore what going away to university might feel like and to think about whether a university further from home could be right for them.
For many young carers, opportunities like this are so important. Caring responsibilities can sometimes make the future feel complicated, so being able to step into a university environment, meet others, and imagine what could be possible for themselves can make a real difference.
We hope they have an amazing time, enjoy every part of the experience, and maybe even get to see the sea while they are there.
