Young Carers Podcast with Voicemag UK!
06 October 2026>
Six Young Adult Carers aged 16 to 25 took part in a special creative media workshop and consultation in Leamington Spa, delivered in partnership with Voice.
The session introduced the group to a range of creative skills and career pathways. They explored how to write an engaging review, prepare for an interview and ask questions that lead to interesting conversations.
The group then stepped behind the microphones to discover the world of podcasting. After recording vox pops with one another, they learned how to plan and lead a longer podcast discussion.
During their recordings, the Young Adult Carers shared their honest thoughts about access to the arts, the barriers they can face and whether creative careers feel like a realistic option for young people with caring responsibilities. They also discussed how many creative roles are less visible than more traditional career choices and why young people may need greater support to discover the opportunities available.
Tracey Beasley, Transitions Coordinator at Warwickshire Young Carers, said:
“Partnering with Voice provides brilliant opportunities for our carers to explore arts and creative careers, develop media skills and grow in confidence, all while having fun and getting a vital break from caring.”
The workshop gave our Young Adult Carers a chance to learn practical skills, express their views and think differently about their futures. Their insights will also help Voice understand the challenges young carers face and consider how creative opportunities can become more accessible.
We would like to thank Voice for creating such an interesting and welcoming session, and 1 Mill Street in Leamington Spa for providing the workshop space and showing the group around the podcast studio.
